About Us
mltolbs.com started because volume-to-mass conversions are easy to get wrong—you must include density, and density comes in many units.
What this tool does
- Real-time mL ↔ lb conversion with an ingredient picker and instant updates as you type.
- Density presets for common items (water, milk, flour, sugar, salt, honey, butter, oils, nuts & seeds, cacao, rice, oats, jam, Nutella, maple syrup, cream variants) plus a custom density option.
- Unit-aware density input: enter g/mL, kg/m³, lb/gal, lb/ft³, etc.—we normalize behind the scenes.
- Related tools: kg ↔ mL, L ↔ lb, m³ ↔ lb for larger or smaller scales.
How the math works (short version)
We convert your density to a consistent base, convert volume from mL to m³, multiply to get mass (kg), then convert kg to lb (1 kg = 2.20462262185 lb). In shorthand with density in g/mL: lb = mL × ρ(g/mL) × 0.00220462262. It stays accurate and transparent.
What I care about
- Accuracy first. Clear formulas and unit handling so conversions are trustworthy.
- Privacy by default. No accounts required; minimal data collection.
- Speed & clarity. Clean interface that works great on phones.
- Accessibility. Keyboard-friendly inputs, sensible focus states, readable typography.
Where this is going
- More vetted density presets and references
- Optional temperature adjustments for density
- CSV/PDF export for conversion tables
- Offline-friendly PWA mode
- Developer API endpoints for batch conversions
- Dark mode and tighter mobile ergonomics
